Understand and use in view the technical specifications of the laptop hardware you are going to buy. Make no mistake buying ...

Processor

Intel vs. AMD?

Lots of debate about the two companies. But actually the two companies is the maker of the best in the world and competing to develop the best type of processor. Intel's current processors for notebooks, have better technology to save battery. But most users will have no difficulty whatever processor brands. Because there is no noticeable difference in performance between the two. Notebooks with AMD processors are usually less costly.

Intel Mobile Processor technology, latest

* Pentium M (Dothan) - Used to noteboook produced around the year 2004. This technology tailored for use in notebooks and operating power requirements of smaller and cooler than its predecessor.
* Celeron M (Dothan and Yonah) - single-core processors (single core) are cheap, suitable for running nearly all the basic applications, such as office and graphic arts. But not able to support heavy applications.
* Core Solo (Yonah) - Processors cheap structure made from the Core Duo, but only has 1 CPU core active. Core Solo Pentium M replaced in 2006.
* Core Duo (Yonah) - dual-core technology (two core) first of Intel. Core Duo (32-bit) 2 CPUs made active on processor 1 without increasing power consumption.
* Core 2 Duo (Merom) - 64-bit version of the Core Duo, performs slightly better than the Core Duo and can run Windows Vista and 64-bit applications other.

Technology AMD's Mobile Processors recent

* Sempron - Processor core 1 cheaply available in the old notebook. In place of the Athlon. The latest version already supports 64-bit applications.
* Athlon 64 - Processor 1 core, 64-bit with power consumption lower than Sempron
* Turion 64 x2 - dual-core version, the 64-bit Turion

GPU

Nvidia or ATI?

This is a topic of debate that is also popular. Both produce good graphics card. Nvidia is better in OpenGL technology and support Linux. While ATI has a better ability in the game, anti-aliasing and anisotropic filtering. There was no significant difference between the two.

Most important you know how much your program needs to use the graphics card. If you use 3D applications or games that weight, you will need a VGA dedicated to high performance. If not, VGA Intel GMA 900/950 has integrated more than enough.

Memory

Of all the components in the notebook, the amount of RAM installed will have the most obvious effect. The greater the RAM, the faster the application will run. Currently, 512MB is the minimum, and it is recommended you have a 1GB, especially if you're running Windows Vista. If you are running many applications simultaneously (multitasking), you should consider to upgrade to 2GB.

There was no significant difference between 533Mhz and 667Mhz.

Memory is also one of the easiest component in an upgrade, you can even do it yourself.

Hard Drive

How much storage do you need? Do you plan to store lots of files, music, videos or photos? If so, you need a hard disk capacity is greater. But if you have limited funds, bought an external hard drive would be cheaper and could be an option.

Optical Drive

Currently almost all laptops are equipped with a DVD writer, which can also function as a CD writer, DVD reader and CD reader.

Wireless

We have all the laptops also been equipped with wireless technology. Most notebooks are equipped with PROSET Intel 3945 802.11 a / b / g Wireless card.

Battery

If you plan to frequently use your laptop without the charger plugged into the electricity, you need enough battery capacity. Currently the average notebook battery can last about 2-3 hours.

How to select a warranty?

Some notebook vendors have offered an extension of the warranty period with affordable price. If you want to use the notebook for the long term, it never hurts to consider buying extended warranties at a price ranging between 5-10% price notebook.
